2018 summary!

Long time no speak!  Sorry for the lack of updates, I seem to have lost my mojo after one of my races to do a blog about it, the list the mojo to do any throughout. I think it's only fair I do an update on how my 2018 went so here goes.  I got my 3rd cat licence finding my local crit (Curborough) very fruitfull for points. I believe I managed a 4th and a couple of top tens. I also raced at mallory with my best result being 11th and a no finish due to rear quick realase becoming loose and causing me to buckeroo off course. There was a front flat on a race a Curborough that also caused me to crash out. I managed around 18 points for the season so not to shabby. Things I've taken from this year, well I know I haven't got the mentality to take me any further. I'm a nervous wreck before the race and within the race I'm far too cautious. Other races was much more bullish than I can be, In which proved to be my downfall. Bullied to the back of the peloton when mak

Darley moor 3/4

Darley Moor 3/4 Pre-Race It was an early start in the parry houseland, luckily my son thought it was a good day to get up at 6.30am ready for the day ahead. After a big bowl of porridge and a cup of coffee, it was time to head to darley for the race as the start time was 10.00. As I pulled in I could already tell it was going to be a big peloton today, I think over 70 started. Into the office picked up my number 68, went for a slash several times, set the bike up and onto the course for a warm up!. I did I few laps round the course which has one hairpin, and two corners nice and easy, a bit of a breeze up the one straight so I do not want to loose the wheel. At the start line I looked around noticed there was a few riders from a couple of teams and plenty of others. I never raced in such a big field of riders so I knew it was going to be  a test. I'm in there somewhere probably at the back! Race Once again I got to the start and I was sat towards the back, and that&#

Update

Update Just thought I would do a quick update on what ive been doing over the last couple of weeks. Due to the weather been poor and no races I havent really had much to write about. Im still training and have now got a elite drivo smart training. This has now helped improve my riding online and my numbers are heading in a good direction. Ive also been suffering with an ingrown hair on my ass cheek, its now ended up as a lump which has recieved the needle treatment from a nurse! Most embarrassing experience of my life, lying on a bed with my ass hanging out whilst someone squeezing shit out of a lump oh well life goes on. Zwift Training & Racing Ive now set up a workout which will hopefully help towards my crit racing. I got the idea off cameron jeffers from his vlogs, check them out there good! I also did race today, I entered in the cat b as my numbers arent quiet up to A group. Whilst racing it was quiet similiar to crit racing my heart rate averaged 178 for 40min. It w

Woolly Mamil Round 4 Pre Race I wake up to the lovely sound of rain bouncing of the window, it must be race day at woolly mamil. This four series race event had brought the most disgusting weathers to Saturdays, snow, sideways rain, wind and cold. But it has been brilliant, I'm now gutted this is the last race. Its well organised has good facilities and is a cracking course to race on. If I am racing next year then this will be where I start my season. Back to today race and like I said the weather is poor, small gusts of winds and rain was pelting the window as I looked out of the window. I made sure I had eaten plenty in the morning so I wouldn't run out of energy within the first few laps as I did in round 2. We arrived and on sign on I was told it was only running around 15 min late, I warmed up and set sail for the start line. Me Harry and Tom Race for 9th Place Race I noticed a few faces I had not seen before but most had been throughout the series. I

Woolly Mamil round 3

Woolly mamil round 3 Pre-Race Another miserable Saturday weather wise. I don't know what I've done to the weather gods on Saturdays but the last three have been shit! I had some porridge for breakfast then took my son to the café in Lichfield which has a play area for him to run round and enjoy. I feel bad Saturdays as most of his and the wifes day is took up with me racing, so I try to spare as much time with them in the morning to make up for it. Last week we established I didn't eat enough before the race (porridge & banana), and that's why I blew out straight away. This week I decided to eat a lot more, at the café I ordered coffee and jam on toast, back home I had a bit of pasta and veg not to much though. Travelling to stourport is a bloody nightmare with the roadworks on the m5 so we leave at little early to make sure we have plenty of time when we get there. As usual first thing I do is sign on, get my number and look down the sheet so how many others

Woolly Mamil round 2 Pre-race It was damp day but not as cold as last week. When I arrive the first thing I do is sign on and check what time we start. I handed in my licence then recieve a number (57) and chip to stick on my fork, I remembered to some cutters this week to rid of the zip tie end. The lady informs me theres a 30min delay which left plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere and warm up. Whilst I set up the turbo and warm up the wife and son go and have coffee in the clubhouse, I really like this circuit for the cafe and relaxed atmosphere good for the family also shelter if the weather is shat. My ambition for this week is to finish in the pack, after my warm up off to the start line ended up at the back not ideal. The Race Like I said I started at the back and as the lady blew this whistle I tried to gain some places to get into the middle of group. The speed from the off was mad, a rider was off the front within a lap then 1st and 2nd from last week joined h

Woolly Mamil Round 1 (cat4) Pre-Race I set myself up on the turbo to warm up a bit but it was made impossible by the weather! It was freezing cold and pissing it down, this is when I felt it was going to be a tough race. Ive never raced before and my first race would be a in a sleet shower. I kept looking at the facebook page to see if it had been cancelled but they updated saying it was still on. We set off and the drive down was snow ridden, "how can we possible race in this"!. As we got closer the snow turned to rain and I felt a bit better. When I arrived I went to sign on and seen the juniors who had just finished the race shivering with the cold. I got back to the car set the turbo up and began warming up. The Race I started on the front row but throughout the first lap I was mid pack then towards the back. I managed to hold onto the back of the group but I was having to put so much effort after the bends and on the uphills to get back on it cost m
